noqodi

The React Native mobile app for noqodi — a UAE payment gateway and escrow wallet. Users hold funds, then pay government and merchant services from a stored-value account instead of a one-shot card charge.

Challenge

Government fees, court transfers, and merchant payouts can’t always settle in a single card swipe. Money has to be received, held, and released — escrow — with a wallet the user can actually operate on a phone.

Solution

Built the mobile client in React Native: wallet account, top-up and pay flows for government and merchant services, and store delivery on iOS and Android. Mobile-only scope — the gateway stays on emaratech’s backend.

Architecture

  • 01React Native app for iOS and Android store delivery
  • 02Stored-value wallet as the escrow account
  • 03Payment surfaces for government entities and merchants
  • 04Auth and onboarding against the noqodi account
  • 05English and Arabic product surfaces

Engineering challenges

  • Owned the mobile layer — React Native UI and navigation for a regulated payments product.
  • Escrow as a first-class flow: hold, pay, withdraw — not a checkout button glued onto a website.
  • Shipped to both App Store and Google Play for a UAE Central Bank–regulated wallet.

Outcome

Live as noqodi on the App Store and Google Play (50K+ Android downloads) — the mobile wallet for emaratech’s payment gateway, used for government and merchant escrow payments in the UAE.
